Fitness Equipment Approved! Chief Herber has approved our request for additional fitness equipment. Each station will get the following equipment: 1. 710 lbs of dumbbell weights (2 sets of 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 50, 60, 70). 2. An all welded commercial grade adjustable bench. 3. An all welded commercial grade flat bench. A dumbbell rack will be built in house in the coming weeks. We have received four 50lb. weight vests and they have been distributed to each station. The vests have twenty 2.5lb lead weights to allow for customization. I have contacted the supplier for the remaining equipment and we can expect to take delivery around 2/28. In addition to the equipment, Chief Herber has also requested that the Training Division set-up an orientation session with a personal trainer, so look for that the first week in March. Engine 6? The apparatus committee is currently working on specifications for a new engine. With an anticipated in service date of January 2008 and a predicted 10 month build out, they will be moving quickly. The new apparatus will basically be Engine 1 with a CAFS. Chief Herber has tasked the apparatus committee with "fixing" all the little problems found on engine 1. An example would be making the crosslays larger and installing headsets for all members. If you have suggestions, forward them to Captain O'Connell, and he will make sure they get to the appropriate committee members. Multi-company Quick Drill Lt. Weige (5A) and Lt. Larralde (2A) generated some quality multi-company training by combining three quick attack drills. The single company drills they combined were the LDH supply line drill, the 75' Ladder Raise drill, and the Pumping Elevated Master Stream drill. 2s & 5s share district lines and often train together.
