| OB OH BOY!! When New Braunfels resident Lisa Stone walked outside to her front yard on the evening of August 21, 2004, it wasn't to gaze at the stars. She was fast approaching stage II of active labor and was feeling quite verbal and anxious about it. At that moment she was doubting her plans to deliver in the comfort of her own home as she'd planned to do for so long. Although competent midwives were in control, EMS was summoned. When EMS1 and Truck 1 arrived, things were moving fast. After some coaching and encouragement from the midwives and crew, Lisa gave birth to Wyatt Stone, 8lbs 13oz at 2203 hours right there under the stars. Lisa's mother Peggy and Lisa had nothing but good things to say about the FD crew there that evening. "They were all so good to me" Lisa said appreciatively. "They were fantastic" said Peggy. She elaborated "Even the midwives were so glad they were there". Although we suspect Lisa did most of the work she would like to thank Eng Scotty (Papapopeye Arms) Koehler, "I remember him holding me and telling me you can do it. I didn't have the strength to hold myself at that time" and all the rest including Acting Specialist (Uncle Timmy) Tim Aurora, FF Jerry (The Stork) VanOverborg and Lt (Hey Batter Batter) Greg Wilson for making their experience fondly memorable. After Wyatt was born and things settled down, Lisa carried on with her stay at home plan. So on this 1 month anniversary, we congratulate Lisa, Peggy, and Wyatt and wish them all the best!! |
